In Psalms chapter eighty four the Psalmist proclaimed, “How amiable are your tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh cries out for the living God. Yes, the sparrow has found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God”, and in chapter eighty four and verse four of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Blessed are they that dwell in your house”, where we read,
Blessed are they that dwell in your house: they will be still praising you. Selah.
The verse begins, “Blessed are they that dwell in your house:” The Psalmist began with the words, “Blessed are they” or “O how happy exist the people whether male or female” “that dwell in your house” which means “who live, abide and remain within your, Jehovah God's, dwelling place, habitation or home”. The Psalmist said the people who abide within the dwelling place of Jehovah God exist as happy and prosperous.
The verse goes on to say, “they will be still praising you. Selah.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “they will be still” or “they, the people dwelling within the habitation of Jehovah God, shall continue and repeatedly be” “praising you” which means “commending, boasting and glorying in you, Jehovah God”. “Selah” or “lift up, exalt and pause to meditate upon it”. The Psalmist said the people who abide within Jehovah God's house will continue to give Him honor, glory and praise, and all who read his words should pause and meditate upon this idea.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see the Psalmist declare the people who abide in the house of Jehovah God to be happy and prosperous, and they will continually give honor, praise and glory to Him. God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16), and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and invite us to dwell in His house and praise Him forever and ever.
Next time the Psalmist says, “Blessed is the man whose strength is in you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
