In Psalms chapter eighty three Asaph spoke of the enemies of Israel and said, “Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison: Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth. Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yes, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna”, and in chapter eighty three and verse twelve of Psalms Asaph shared how the enemies of Israel said, “Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession”, where we read,
Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
The verse begins, “Who said, Let us take to ourselves ...” Asaph began with the words, “who said” or “who, the enemy people of Jehovah God and Israel, uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “let us take to ourselves” which means “allow and permit us, the haters of Jehovah God and the people of Israel, seize, take possession of and dispossess to our own selves” the following things. Asaph shared how the enemies of Jehovah God and Israel decided among themselves to seize, inherit and take possession of the following.
The verse continues, “... the houses of God in possession.” Asaph added the words, “the houses of God” or “the abodes, habitations, meadows, pastures and pleasant places belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “in possession” which means “within seizure, dispossession and occupation”. Asaph said the enemies of Jehovah God and Israel desired to seize His dwelling places or pastures.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how the enemies of Jehovah God and Israel desired to take over their pasture lands and habitations. In other words, they wanted to dominate Jehovah God's people of Israel. This was not God's original plan. God told Abraham, “And in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice” (See Genesis 22:18) Notice, “all the nations of the earth”. God's desire is to reach everyone, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and find Him more than able to handle anyone who refuses Him and attempts to seize His “possessions”.
Next time Asaph says, “O my God, make them like a wheel”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
