Perished at Endor - Psalms 83:10

In Psalms chapter eighty three Asaph spoke of the enemies of Jehovah God and Israel and said, “Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison”, and in chapter eighty three and verse ten of Psalms Asaph said, “which perished at Endor”, where we read,

Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

The verse begins, Which perished at Endor: Asaph began with the words, “which perished” or “who was destroyed, exterminated and annihilated” “at Endor” which means “in a river in central Palestine whose name means fountain of Dor” (See Joshua 17:11). Asaph referred to “Endor” which was the place where “Sisera and Jabin” were exterminated.

The verse continues, they became as dung for the earth. Asaph added the words, “they became as dung” or “they, the Midianites, Sisera and Jabin happened, existed and fell out to be similar to manure which was in this form and always of corpses” “for the earth” which means “for the land, ground, territory, country and world”. Asaph said the people that God judged became like manure for the ground after He exterminated them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Asaph made reference to “Endor” which was the place where Jehovah God exterminated “the Midianites, Sisera and Jabin”. It was there that God made His and the people of Israel's enemies to be like manure spread upon the ground. Jehovah God created the world and everything within it, and He is more than able to contend with people who live in opposition to Him and His people. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us safe eternally from His enemies and ours.

Next time Asaph says, “make their nobles like Oreb … and Zeeb”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
