The Far Off Build in the LORD's Temple - Zechariah 6:15

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall build the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne: and the shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD”, and in chapter six and verse fifteen of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the word of the LORD said, “they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD” where we read,

And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.

The verse reads, “And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, ... Zechariah began with the words, “and they that are far off” or “and the people who are from distant lands and a long way away” “shall come and build in the temple” which means “will enter and be enumerated within the sacred sanctuary” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared how the angel told him that people from distant lands would enter and be enumerated within the sacred sanctuary of Jehovah God.

The verse continues, “... and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you. Zechariah added the words, “and you shall know” or “and you, Zechariah and the people of Israel will perceive, discern, discriminate and recognize” “that the LORD of hosts” which means “that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors” “has sent me unto you” or “has dispatched and assigned me, the angel, to you, Zechariah and the people of Israel”. Zechariah shared how the angel told him when people who were from distant places returned to construct the sacred worship place he would be aware that Jehovah God who rules over angel armies dispatched him.

Finally the verse says, “And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.” Zechariah concluded this verse with the words, “And this shall come to pass” or “and the awareness that the angel was dispatched to Zechariah will happen, occur and fall out”, “if you will diligently obey” which means “whether and in case you, Zechariah, shall carefully conform and follow” “the voice” or “the sound and noise of uttered words” “of the LORD your God” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God, your, Zechariah's and the people of Israel's, Supreme Deity”. Zechariah ended this verse by sharing how the angel said these things would occur “if” he carefully followed the utterance of Jehovah God who was his Supreme Deity.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how there was to be people who lived in distant places that would return to Jerusalem for the purpose of rebuilding the “temple” of Jehovah God, and when this happened, because Zechariah followed God's direction and speech, Zechariah and the people of Israel would discern that the angel was dispatched to Zechariah by Jehovah God. God wants people to know that He is for them, and He loves them. He proved His love to everyone in the world when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for their sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of hearing His “voice” and “obeying” what He declares.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Zechariah share what happened, “in the fourth year of king Darius”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
