In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah saw a vision of four chariots, and the angel told him, “these are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country. And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth”, and in chapter six and verse eight of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the angel said, “ these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit” where we read,
Then cried he upon me, and spoke unto me, saying,
Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.
The verse reads, “Then cried he upon me, and spoke unto me, saying, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “then cried he upon me” or “at that time shouted, called and summoned Jehovah God to me, Zechariah”, “and spoke unto me” which means “and uttered, declared and proclaimed to me, Zechariah”, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the following words. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God summoned him and began to speak to him with the following words.
The verse goes on to say, “... Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.”Zechariah continued with the words, “behold, these that go toward the north country” or “lo, look and consider, the black horses that proceed and depart to the land and country in the northern region” “have quieted my spirit” which means “have settled down, rested, reposed and caused to alight my, Jehovah God's, animation, vivacity, vigor and disposition”“in the north country” or “within the land, district and region in the northern direction”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God told him the black horses which departed to the “northern” region calmed and reposed His vivacity and disposition.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Zechariah how Jehovah God said the “black horses”that were dispatched to the area that was north of Israel caused a quietness in the angel's disposition. God's will was being fulfilled, and when He assigns His spiritual entities to carry out His purposes, not only will they be effective for Him, but they will settle down the disposition of His angel toward that area. We can imagine that God was very displeased with what was happening in the northern area, and these “horses” would fulfill His will. God loves people, and when they bring opposition against Him and His people, He will defend them. God wants a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to understand that He will accomplish His purposes and satiate the “spirit” of His supernatural entities when His will is completed.
Next time Zechariah says, “the word of the LORD came unto me ...”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
