Two Olive Branches - Zechariah 4:12

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God asked, “who has despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?”, and in chapter four and verse twelve of Zechariah, Zechariah asked, “what are these two olive branches?” where we read,

And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

The verse reads, “And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches … Zechariah began with the words, “and I answered again” or “and I, Zechariah, questioned another time”, “and said unto him” which means “and uttered, declared, proclaimed and asked him, the angel”, “what be these two olive branches” or “whatsoever are these two flowing channels of limbs from the trees that bear olive berries”? Zechariah questioned another time concerning the two “limbs” coming from the trees that bear olives which functioned as flowing channels.

The verse goes on to say, “... which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? Zechariah continued with the words, “which through the two golden pipes” or “that by passage the two tubes that were made of precious gold metal” “empty the golden oil” which means “pour forth or drip toward the lamps with olive oil” “of themselves” or “from the branches”? Zechariah questioned what the “two branches” were that dripped “olive oil” directly to the lamp stand.

When meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Zechariah was without understanding concerning the “two branches” which were connected to the “two olive trees” and the way they poured “olive oil” directly to the tubes which were connected to the lamp stand. The daily chore of the priests was to fill the bowl with olive oil so the candlestick would continue to burn. We shall see how this constant supply from the two olive trees and the two branches was intended by God in our next few verses, but for now let us keep in mind that God knows what He is doing even when we don't understand. God loves us, and He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to trust that He knows what He is doing even when it is beyond our own knowledge or understanding. (See Proverbs 3:5-6; Jeremiah 9:24)

Next time Zechariah says, “no, my lord”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
