Psalms chapter thirty two begins with the heading, “[[A Psalm of David, Maschil.]]” which breaks down “A Psalm” or “a melody or poem set to notes” “of David” which means “belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel”, “Maschil” or “a song or poem of contemplation”, and in chapter thirty two and verse one of Psalms David said, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven” where we read,
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
The verse begins, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, ...” David began with the words, “Blessed is he” which means “O how happy exists the person whether male or female” “whose transgression” or “whose willful sin, guilt, punishment and rebellion against God” “is forgiven” which means “exists as lifted up, carried off, supported and swept away”. David said the person who has their “willful sin” swept away is an “O how happy” person.
The verse continues, “... whose sin is covered.” David added the words, “whose sin” or “whose offense, error, mistake and missing of the mark” “is covered” which means “exists as concealed, hidden and kept in secret”. David wrote how the person who is “O how happy” is one for whom their “offense, error and missing of the mark” has been concealed..
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we realize David is considering himself a “happy” person because Jehovah God has concealed his “willful sin”. David was guilty of some well known sins (See 2 Samuel 11 and 12; 1 Chronicles 21), and when he realized Jehovah God forgave him and hid those transgressions, He knew he was “blessed”. This is the beauty of God's grace. Grace is His unmerited favor that is offered to everyone through the death of His Son Jesus who was crucified for the sins of the world. Jesus died, so we may be forgiven, and anyone who yields to Him will know the “blessed happiness” that rests within them. God knows every sin we commit, and because He is loving, caring and extremely gracious, He will conceal our sins through the blood of His Son Jesus who gave His life to pay the penalty for them all.
Next time David says, “Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
