In Psalms chapter thirty one David said, “Blessed be the LORD: for he has showed me his marvelous kindness in a strong city”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty-two of Psalms David said to Jehovah God, “I said in my haste, I am cut off” where we read,
For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before your eyes:
nevertheless you heard the voice of my supplications when I cried unto you.
The verse begins, “For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before your eyes:” David began with the words, “For I said in my haste” which means “because, since and on account that I, David, uttered, declared and proclaimed in a hurry and suddenly”, “I am cut off” or “I, David, exist as separated and destroyed” “from before your eyes” which means “apart from the presence of your, Jehovah God's, sight or mental and spiritual faculties”. David shared how he hurriedly declared that he was separated and destroyed from the sight and presence of Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “nevertheless you heard the voice of my supplications when I cried unto you.” David continued with the words, “nevertheless you heard the voice” or “however, notwithstanding and moreover you, Jehovah God, hearkened, listened and perceived the sound, noise and proclamation” “of my supplications” which means “pertaining to my, David's, entreaties and earnest prayers” “when I cried unto you” or “at the time and moment I, David, hallooed and shouted aloud to you, Jehovah God”. David wrote how Jehovah God listened to the crying out of his earnest prayers even though he believed he was “cut off” from God.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through David how Jehovah God listened to his earnest prayers even though David believed he was out of God's sight and separated from His presence. Salvation belongs to our God, (David declared in Psalm 3:8) and anyone who comes to Him through His Son Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. God loves people, and even when they believe He has abandoned, forsaken and left them to deal with life on their own, He is listening and He will supply their every need according to His riches in glory as they surrender to His Son Jesus. (See Philippians 4:19)
Next time David says, “O love the LORD, all you his saints”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
