In Psalms chapter seventy-six Asaph said, “In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel”, and in chapter seventy-six and verse verse two of Psalms Asaph said, “in Salem also is his tabernacle” where we read,
In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
The verse begins, “In Salem also is his tabernacle, ...” Asaph began with the words, “in Salem” or “within Salem whose name means peace and was the place of which Melchizedek was king and most Jewish commentators affirm that it is the same as Jerusalem” “also is his tabernacle” which means “even so and indeed exists as his, the Divine judge Jehovah God's, pavilion, lair, covert, den and booth”. Asaph referred to how the covert and den of Jehovah God is indeed within “Salem” or Jerusalem as well.
The verse goes on to say, “... and his dwelling place in Zion.” Asaph continued with the words, “and his dwelling place” or “and his, the Divine judge Jehovah God's, habitation, refuge, den and lair” “in Zion” which means “within Zion whose name means parched place and was another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. Asaph said the Divine judge Jehovah God's habitation and refuge is within “Zion” or “Jerusalem”.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God dwells within his “tabernacle” in “Salem, Zion or Jerusalem”. In other words, God abode and was worshiped in Jerusalem, and He desires to be known by every person throughout the world. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to share His love with people all over the world.
Next time Asaph says, “There breaks he the arrows of the bow”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
