In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, ...”, and in chapter two and verse four of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls” where we read,
And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying,
Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
The verse reads, “And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “and, said unto him” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed to him, the angel who spoke to Zechariah”, “run, speak to this young man” which means “hurry and move quickly, utter, declare and proclaim to this youthful male human being, Zechariah”, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the following words. Zechariah shared how the second “angel” instructed the first “angel” who spoke to Him to hurry and utter the following words to youthful Zechariah.
The verse goes on to say, “... Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:” Zechariah continued with the words, “Jerusalem shall be inhabited” or “Jerusalem, whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split, will exist as dwelling, remaining and settled” “as towns without walls” which means “similar and in likeness to open regions, hamlets, unwalled villages and open country not having protective barriers” “for the multitude of men” or “on behalf of the numerous and abundant amount of male human beings” “and cattle therein” which means “and beasts, animals and livestock within the city of Jerusalem”. Zechariah shared how the second “angel” told the first “angel” to declare to Zechariah that “Jerusalem” would exist as a dwelling place similar to hamlets and open villages that were without protective barriers because of the abundant amount of “men” and livestock that was within it.
When we meditate upon Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how the two “angel messengers” which were dispatched to Zechariah and the people of Israel were involved in relaying God's word concerning Jerusalem. The second “angel” instructed the first to tell Zechariah that “Jerusalem” would be overflowing with people and animals similar to a dwelling place or town that did not have protective walls. God was to expand “Jerusalem”, and although the people of Israel were banished to seventy years captivity in Babylon for abandoning their relationship with Him, they were going to be restored and blessed beyond their limits. God loves Israel, and He loves us. He wants to bless us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for all our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and enlarge our borders beyond what we could ever ask or think. (See 1 Chronicles 4:10; Ephesians 3:20)
Next time Zechariah shared how Jehovah God says He, “will be unto her a wall of fire round about”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
