In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:”, and in chapter two and verse five of Zechariah, Zechariah shares how Jehovah God said He, “will be unto her a wall of fire round about” where we read,
For I, says the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about,
and will be the glory in the midst of her.
The verse reads, “For I, says the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “for I, says the LORD” or “because, since and on account that I, Jehovah God, utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “will be unto her” which means “shall exist toward her, Jerusalem” “a wall of fire” or “a protective barrier consisting of fiery fire” “round about” which means “encircling and surrounding Jerusalem”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God declared that He would be a fiery protective barrier for the city of Jerusalem.
The verse continues, “... and will be the glory in the midst of her.” Zechariah added the words, “and will be the glory” or “and shall exist as the honor, abundance, splendor, dignity and reverence ” “in the midst of her” which means “within the middle of her, Jerusalem”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God also declared that He would be the honor, splendor and reverence belonging to Jerusalem.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God continued to involve Himself within the restoration, protection and honor of the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem. God loves the people of Israel, and when the time of their seventy years captivity expired, He went to work. God loves all people, and He wants everyone to be in a personal intimate relationship with Him. He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind which separated us from Him, and when we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and become the protection, provision and splendor within our lives in this world and in Heaven to come.
Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “ho, ho, come forth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
