In Psalms chapter seventy-five Asaph said, “promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south”, and in chapter seventy-five and verse seven of Psalms Asaph said, “God is the judge” where we read,
But God is the judge: he puts down one, and sets up another.
The verse begins, “But God is the judge:” Asaph began with the words, “But God” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “is the judge” which means “exists as the governor, vindicator, punisher and discriminating one”. Asaph said the Divine judge exist as the governor and discriminating one over people.
The verse goes on to say, “he puts down one, and sets up another.” Asaph continued with the words, “he puts down one” or “he, the Divine judge Jehovah God, humbles, humiliates and abases one person”, “and sets up another” which means “and raises up, uplifts and exalts another person”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God is responsible for humbling one person and raising up someone else.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Asaph from where true power and ability arise. God advances one person, and He puts down another one. No one holds positions of authority without the gift of God's ability upon them. Even though people promote, vote and attempt to make their decisions as to who rules over them, it is actually God who chooses. Inasmuch as He is able to make one rise to positions of power, He is able to humble them as well. Remember Nebuchadnezzar . (See Daniel 1-4) God's desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus whom He sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and promote and humble whomever He wills according to His purpose and plan.
Next time Asaph says, “in the hand of the LORD there is a cup”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
