In Psalms chapter seventy-five Asaph said, “in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he pours out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them”, and in chapter seventy-five and verse nine of Psalms Asaph said, “I will sing praises to the God of Jacob” where we read,
But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
The verse begins, “But I will declare for ever;” Asaph began with the words, “but I will declare” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, Asaph, shall be conspicuous, tell, announce and make known” “for ever” which means “of long duration, futurity, everlastingly, perpetually and evermore”. Asaph said he would perpetually make known what Jehovah God has done.
The verse goes on to say, “I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.” Asaph continued with the words, “I will sing praises” or “I, Asaph, shall make music of thanksgiving, honor and glory with his voice and musical instruments” “to the God” which means “toward the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “of Jacob” or “belonging to Jacob whose name means heel holder or supplanter and was the son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham, and father of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel”. Asaph declared that he would make music of honor and thanksgiving to Jacob's God with his voice and musical instruments.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Asaph purposed to proclaim the works of God eternally, and he was going to honor Him with his voice and songs of musical instruments. God does wonderful acts and deeds, and we do well to notice them. His greatest work was to send His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an opportunity to give Him praise and honor in words and songs for all eternity.
Next time Asaph says, “all the horns of the wicked also will I cut off”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
