My People Would Not Hearken - Psalms 81:11

In Psalms chapter eighty one Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt: open your mouth wide, and I will fill it”, and in chapter eighty one and verse eleven of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “my people would not hearken to my voice”, where we read,

But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

The verse begins, But my people would not hearken to my voice; Asaph began with the words, “But my people” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover my, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female” “would not hearken” which means “would in no way hear, listen to, pay attention with interest or give agreement” “to my voice” or “to my, Jehovah God's, sound and noise of spoken words”. Asaph said Jehovah God noted how His people would not listen to Him when He spoke.

The verse goes on to say,and Israel would none of me. Asaph continued with the words, “and Israel” or “and Israel whose name means God prevails and was the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob” “would none of me” which means “were not willing to accept, yield or consent to me, Jehovah God”. Asaph shared how the people of Israel wanted nothing to do with Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God knew the people of Israel did not listen to Him when He spoke. He knew they wanted nothing to do with Him even through He provided and protected them through the wilderness. God loves everyone, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the ability to “hear” Him when He speaks to us. We are wise to receive Jesus Christ into our lives, listen to His voice and make relating to Him the priority in everything we do.

Next time Asaph shares how Jehovah God says, “I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
