In Psalms chapter eighty one Asaph shared how Jehovah God said to the people of Israel, “Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto you: O Israel, if you will hearken unto me. There shall no strange god be in you; neither shall you worship any strange god”, and in chapter eighty one and verse ten of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “I am the LORD your God”, where we read,
I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt:
open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
The verse begins, “I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt:” Asaph began with the words, “I am the LORD” or “I, Jehovah God, exists as Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “your God” which means “your, the people of Israel's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “which brought you” or “who carried, lead and guided you, the people of Israel” “out of the land” which means “from the country, territory, district and region” “of Egypt” or “pertaining to Egypt whose name means land of the Copts and was a country at the northeastern section of Africa, adjacent to Palestine and through which the Nile river flows”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God declared Himself to be the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God of Israel who delivered and lead them from the country of “Egypt”.
The verse continues, “open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Asaph added the words, “open your mouth wide” or “ and enlarge, broaden and make room in your, the people of Israel's, orifice in the face used for drinking, eating and speaking”, “and I will fill it” which means “and I, Jehovah God, shall make full, consecrate and satisfy the mouth of the people of Israel”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God instructed the people of Israel to make room within their “mouths” and He would satisfy and make them full.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God wanted the people of Israel to prepare themselves to receive from Him. God loved the people of Israel, and His desire was to bless and keep them in everything they endured. He desires the same for us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross to prove His love and willingness to forgive us. When we surrender our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and “fill” us with His presence every time we “open our mouths wide” to receive from Him.
Next time Asaph shares how Jehovah God says, “my people would not hearken to my voice”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
