In Psalms chapter eighty one Asaph said, “Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob. This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not”, and in chapter eighty one and verse six of Psalms Asaph said Jehovah God, “removed his shoulder from the burden”, where we read,
I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.
The verse begins, “I removed his shoulder from the burden:” Asaph began with the words, “I removed his shoulder” or “I, Jehovah God, caused to turn aside, depart and take away his, the people of Israel's, shoulder-blade or back” “from the burden” which means “separate and apart from the task, charge or load”. Asaph said Jehovah God separated the people of Israel from the load they were carrying.
The verse goes on to say, “his hands were delivered from the pots.” Asaph continued with the words, “his hands” or “his, the people of Israel's, physical hands” “were delivered” which means “were rescued, saved and delivered” “from the pots” or “separate and apart from the kettles, baskets or jars”. Asaph said Jehovah God also liberated the physical hands of the people of Israel from the heavy kettles and baskets they had to carry.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God relieved the people of Israel from the oppression of slavery. They were captive in Egypt, and God rescued them from serving the Egyptians. “Egypt” is a spiritual type of the world, and the tasks within the world are quite burdensome and heavy. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the burdensome sins of all mankind, and when we put our faith and trust in Him, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and have the burdens and cares of this world removed and carried by the grace of God.
Next time Asaph shares how Jehovah God says, “you called in trouble, and I delivered you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
