He Shall Build the Temple - Zechariah 6:13

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:”, and in chapter six and verse twelve of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the word of the LORD said, “he shall build the temple of the LORD”where we read,

Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory,

and shall sit and rule upon his throne: and the shall be a priest upon his throne:

and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

The verse reads, “Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, ... Zechariah began with the words, “even he shall build” or “also and indeed he, The BRANCH or the Messiah Jesus, will establish and cause to continue” “the temple of the LORD” which means “the sanctuary and sacred place of worship belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”: “and he shall bear the glory” or “and he, The BRANCH or the Messiah Jesus will carry, take, sustain and endure the splendor, majesty and vigor”. Zechariah shared how “The BRANCH or Messiah Jesus” would establish the sacred worship place belonging to Jehovah God and will carry and and sustain the majesty and vigor of it.

The verse goes on to say, “... and shall sit and rule upon his throne: and he shall be a priest upon his throne: Zechariah continued with the words, “and shall sit and rule” or “and will dwell, remain, stay and have dominion as king” “upon his throne” which means “on his, The BRANCH or the Messiah Jesus', seat of dignity, honor, authority and power”: “and he shall be a priest upon his throne” or “and he, THE BRANCH or the Messiah Jesus will exist as a spiritual leader on his seat of dignity, honor, authority and power”. Zechariah shared how “The BRANCH or the Messiah” would be fixed and have dominion on his seat of honor and authority as a king and exist as the spiritual leader on his seat of honor.

Finally the verse says, “and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.” Zechariah concluded this verse with the words, “and the counsel of peace” or “and the advice, purpose and prudence pertaining to calm, tranquility, soundness, safety, welfare, health and prosperity” “shall be between them both” which means “will exist betwixt and connecting his two roles”. Zechariah ended this verse by declaring that “The BRANCH or Messiah” would not only give advice of calm and tranquility, but also have dominion as the “priest and king” of all creation.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how the Messiah, Jesus, was to become the ruler of the world both as “King and Priest”. The Levitical law shared concerning the priestly roles, and Samuel shared concerning the Kingly role. (See Leviticus and 1 Samuel for more information) Jesus came as the Messiah who would not only be “priest” but also “king” of the world. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us and understanding that He, and He alone is able to fulfill both roles as spiritual leader and governing entity of the world.

Next time Zechariah shares how the angel tells him about, “the crowns”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
