In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah. Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest”, and in chapter six and verse twelve of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the word of the LORD said, “behold the man whose name is The BRANCH” where we read,
And speak unto him, saying, thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying,
behold the man whose name is The BRANCH;
and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
The verse reads, “And speak unto him, saying, thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “and speak unto him” or “and utter, declare and proclaim to him, Joshua the high priest”, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”, “thus speaks the LORD of hosts” or “the following utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the following words. Zechariah was instructed to talk to “Joshua the high priest” and tell Him that the following words are declared by Jehovah God who rules over the “angel armies”.
The verse goes on to say, “... behold the man whose name is The BRANCH;” Zechariah continued with the words, “behold the man” or “lo, look and consider the male human being” “whose name is The BRANCH” which means “who is known in fame, reputation and glory by The BRANCH or the sprout, growth, bud and shoot”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God instructed him to consider the “male human being” who is known as “The BRANCH” which is a reference to Jesus the Messiah.
Finally the verse says, “and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:” Zechariah concluded this verse with the words, “and he shall grow up” or “and he, The BRANCH or the Messiah Jesus will sprout, spring up and bud forth” “out of his place” which means “from his, The BRANCH's, location”, “and he shall build the temple” or “and he, The BRANCH or the Messiah Jesus will establish and cause to continue the sanctuary and sacred place of worship” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah ended this verse by sharing how “The BRANCH” or Messiah would not only arise from His location, but would also be commissioned to establish the sacred sanctuary of Jehovah God.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how he was to make a declaration from Jehovah God concerning “The BRANCH” which is a reference to the Messiah Jesus Christ, and He was to establish the sacred sanctuary of Jehovah God. (See Isaiah 53:2) God has a plan for Israel and for all the people of the world who will yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and believe in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to value Him and “The BRANCH” or Messiah and ruler of the world. .
Next time Zechariah shared how the LORD said again, “he shall build the temple of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
