The LORD Hears the Poor - Psalms 69:33

In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that has horns and hoofs. The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse thirty-three of Psalms David said, “for the LORD hears the poor” where we read,

For the LORD hears the poor, and despises not his prisoners.

The verse begins, For the LORD hears the poor, ... David began with the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “hears the poor” which means “understands, perceives, pays attention to, gives heed and listens to the needy, subject to oppression and abused”. David said Jehovah God pays attention and gives heed to people who are needy and subject to abuse.

The verse continues,... and despises not his prisoners. David added the words, “and despises not” or “and does not hold in contempt, disdain and despise” “his prisoners” which means “his, Jehovah God's, captives, bondmen or those who are bound”. David said Jehovah God does not disdain or despise people who are imprisoned and become servants or bondmen to Him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God pays attention to people who are needy and subject to oppression, and He in no way disdains His servants and bondmen. God loves people, and He wants to have a personal relationship with every one of us. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us realize how He pays attention to the needy and does not disdain those who are bound.

Next time David says, “let the heaven and earth praise him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
