In Psalms chapter sixty nine David appealed to Jehovah God concerning his enemies, and he said, “add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into your righteousness. Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse twenty-nine of Psalms David said, “I am poor and sorrowful” where we read,
But I am poor and sorrowful: let your salvation, O God, set me up on high.
The verse begins, “But I am poor and sorrowful:” David began with the words, “but I am poor” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, David, exist as afflicted, humble, wretched, needy and weak” “and sorrowful” which means “and sore, hurt and in mental and physical pain”. David shared how he was afflicted and in mental and physical pain in contrast to his enemies.
The verse continues, “let your salvation, O God, set me up on high.” David added the words, “let your salvation” or “allow and permit your, Jehovah God's, deliverance, liberation and rescue”, “O God” which means “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “set me up on high” or “make, put and lift me, David, as inaccessible, exalted and lofty”. David wanted Jehovah God to allow His rescue, deliverance and liberation to elevate him to a high position.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David contrasted himself with his enemies. Rather than be like them, David considered himself to be afflicted, humble and weak, so he wanted Jehovah God to deliverer him and exalt him to a lofty position. God wants people to come to Him in this manner, and when we realize that He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, we may submit to Him as “Savior and Lord”, be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and have His Holy Spirit to guide us in to all truth as we are “set on high”.
Next time David says, “I will praise the name of God with a song”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
