God Hide Not Your Face - Psalms 69:17

In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse seventeen of Psalms David said, “hide not your face from your servant” where we read,

And hide not your face from your servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

The verse begins, And hide not your face from your servant; David began with the words, “and hide not your face” or “and in no way conceal, make secret or keep hidden your, Jehovah God's, countenance or presence” “from your servant” which means “apart and separate from your, Jehovah God's, slave, bondman or man of servile condition”. David was Jehovah God's bondman, so he beckoned Him not to conceal His presence or countenance from him.

The verse continues, for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. David added the words, “for I am in trouble” or “because, since and on account that I, David, exist in distress, straits and vexation”: “hear me speedily” which means “answer, respond and speak to me, David, quickly”. David told Jehovah God that he was in dire straits, and he wanted God to respond to him quickly.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David did not want Jehovah God to conceal Himself from him. David was God's bondman, and he was in great vexation so He cried out to God to listen and pay attention to him. God loved David, and He was constantly ready to respond to David's needs. He will do the same for everyone who comes to Him through His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and send His Holy Spirit to accompany us when we face difficulties circumstances.

Next time David says, “draw near unto my soul”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
