Hear Me, O LORD - Psalms 69:16

In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse sixteen of Psalms David said, “Hear me, O LORD” where we read,

Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good:

turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies.

The verse begins, Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: David began with the words, “Hear me” or “answer, respond and begin to speak”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”; “for your lovingkindness” or “because, since and on account that your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “is good” which means “exists as pleasant, agreeable, appropriate, becoming and valuable”. David appealed to Jehovah God to respond to Him because He knew His goodness, kindness and faithfulness were agreeable and pleasant.

The verse goes on to say, turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies. David continued with the words, “turn unto me” or “appear, be beholden and give regard to me, David” “according to the multitude” which means “toward the abundance, greatness and a numerous amount” “of your tender mercies” or “pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, compassions, love and pity”. David desired that Jehovah God regard him by the means of His compassion and love.

When we consider the words in this verse, we notice how David appealed to Jehovah God for His compassion and abundant love. David knew regardless of His circumstances that He could appeal to God for help, and God supplied His need. God loves us, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and pour out His “lovingkindness” and “tender mercies” upon us.

Next time David says, “hide not your face from your servant”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
