In Psalms chapter eighty three Asaph said, “Keep not you silence, O God: hold not you peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, your enemies make a tumult: and they that hate you have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against your people, and consulted against your hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance”, and in chapter eighty three and verse five of Psalms Asaph said, “They have consulted together with one consent”, where we read,
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against you:
The verse begins, “For they have consulted together with one consent:” Asaph began with the words, “for they have consulted together” or “because, since and on account that they, the enemies of Jehovah God, have advised, purposed, devised and planned with one another” “with one consent” which means “within their inner man, mind, heart, will, understanding, soul, knowledge, thinking, reflection, inclination, resolution, determination, conscience and the seat of appetites, emotions and passions”. Asaph shared how the enemies of Jehovah God and Israel made made unanimous decisions and plans with one another.
The verse continues, “they are confederate against you:” Asaph added the words, “they are confederate” or “they, the enemies of Israel, exist as in covenant, alliance, pledge, constitution, league and ordinance” “against you” which means “in opposition to you, Jehovah God”. Asaph shared how the enemies of Jehovah God covenanted with one another and made a league in opposition to Him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Asaph how the hating foes of Jehovah God conspired with an alliance against Jehovah God and the nation of Israel. They were in covenant with one another, and they wanted Israel eliminated. God chose Israel, and He brought forth His Son Jesus through the nation of Israel to come to the earth to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives Him, as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and stand in opposition to those who desire to annihilate the people of Almighty God.
Next time Asaph shares about, “the tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
