In Psalms chapter forty eight David said, “You break the ships of Tarshish with an east wind”, and in chapter forty eight and verse eight of Psalms David said, “as we have heard, so have we seen” where we read,
As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God:
God will establish it for ever. Selah.
The verse begins, “As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God:” David began with the words, “as we have heard” or “in the same manner that we, David and His fellow believers, have been given the faculty for listening, hearing, perceiving, understanding and regarding”, “so have we seen” which means “also and indeed we, David and his fellow believers, have observed, noticed, discovered, discerned and beheld” “in the city” or “within the dwelling place, habitation or town” “of the LORD of hosts” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God who goes forth with an army of angels”, “in the city” or “within the dwelling place, habitation and town” “of our God” which means “belonging to our, David and his fellow believers', Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David said that which he and his believing companions “heard” from Jehovah God they “saw” within His dwelling place.
The verse continues, “God will establish it for ever. Selah.” David added the words, “God will establish it” or “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God shall make firm, stable and firmly fixed His dwelling place” “for ever” which means “even unto continuous existence, perpetual and indefinite future and eternity”. “Selah” or “lift up, exalt and pause to meditate upon it”. David said Jehovah God, who is the Divine judge, will make firm and fixed His dwelling place unto eternity, and those who are reading and listening to his words should pause and meditate upon this idea.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David and his believing companions “heard” about the power of Jehovah God, and they watched Him fulfill what He said. God will indeed “establish” His city, His Kingdom, forever, and anyone who receives His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and receive everlasting life there with Him. Let us “pause and meditate” upon this idea, and allow Jehovah God to “establish” His Kingdom and “city” within our lives. (See Luke 17:21)
Next time David says, “we have thought of your lovingkindness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
