In Psalms chapter forty eight David said, “Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of your judgments. Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof”, and in chapter forty eight and verse thirteen of Psalms David said, “Mark you well her bulwarks, consider her palaces” where we read,
Mark you well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that you may tell it to the generation following.
The verse begins, “Mark you well her bulwarks, consider her palaces;” David began with the words, “Mark you well” or “you, people listening and reading David's words, put, set, station, appoint, fix and set your mind with understanding, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution, determination and conscience toward” “her bulwarks” which means “her, Zion's, entrenchments, ramparts and fortresses”, “consider her palaces” or “contemplate her, Zion's, citadels and fortresses”. David instructed his readers and listeners to set their mind toward and contemplate the ramparts, fortresses and citadels within the city of Zion.
The verse goes on to say, “that you may tell it to the generation following.” David continued with the words, “that you may tell it” or “so you, readers and listeners of David, might reckon, recount and declare the bulwarks and palaces of Zion” “to the generations following” which means “toward the subsequent age and posterity behind the current one”. David said his readers and listeners to set their minds upon the “bulwarks” and to “contemplate” the citadels within Zion so they will be able to continue sharing about them with future ages and posterity.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David wanted people who listened to and read his words to set their minds of understanding toward the fortresses and castles of Zion because they would eventually share them with future ages. God desired that all people from all nations be aware of His presence in “Jerusalem” both on earth and in heaven. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we submit ourselves to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. We shall not only receive the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ, but also be the messengers to future generations of the wonderful salvation offered by Jehovah God.
Next time David says, “this God is our God for ever and ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
