In Psalms chapter forty nine David said, “They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him”, and in chapter forty nine and verse eight of Psalms David shared how, “the redemption of their soul is precious” where we read,
(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases for ever:)
The verse begins, “(For the redemption of their soul is precious, ...” David parenthetically began with the words, “(For the redemption” or “because, since and on account that the ransom” “of their soul” which means “pertaining to inner man, mind, soul, appetite, desire and seat of emotions and passions of the brother of the wealthy person” “is precious” or “exists as esteemed, prized, valuable and costly”. David added a parenthetical statement concerning the ransom of the valuable and costly soul of the brother of a wealthy person.
The verse continues, “... and it ceases for ever:)” David added the words, “and it ceases” or “and it, the inner man and soul of the brother of the wealthy person, desists and foregoes” “for ever” which means “for long duration, antiquity, futurity, perpetually and unto continuous existence”). David said the “soul” of the wealthy person's brother will desist perpetually and unto continuous existence.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David felt it was important to add this parenthetical sentence concerning the value and eternality of a person's soul. Redemption of the soul is only possible because Jesus paid the ransom on the cross when He died for the sins of the world. He was resurrected from the grave three days later, and now everyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. There is no other way or price that will be accepted for redemption, (See John 14:6) and we are wise to remember our soul is valuable and will last throughout eternity.
Next time David shares, “that he should still live for ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
