In Psalms chapter forty eight David said, “Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of your judgments”, and in chapter forty eight and verse twelve of Psalms David said, “walk about Zion, and go round about her” where we read,
Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.
The verse begins, “Walk about Zion, and go round about her:” David began with the words, “Walk about Zion” or “amble on foot, compass, encircle and surround Zion which means parched place and was another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”, “and go round about her” which means “and surround, encompass and complete the circuit”. David instructed his readers and listeners to amble around and encircle “Zion” or “Jerusalem”.
The verse continues, “tell the towers thereof.” David added the word, “tell” or “speak of, declare, commune and enumerate” “the towers thereof” which means “the elevated stage, pulpit, rostrum and castles of Zion”. David told his readers and listeners to speak of the castles within the city of “Zion”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David instructed his readers and listeners to amble about “Zion” and encircle it, and they were to speak of the citadels and castles within “Zion”. Jerusalem was the dwelling place of Jehovah God, and His desire was to have everyone to be in a personal relationship with Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of mankind so that everyone has an opportunity to know Him. When we submit to Jesus, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Let us amble about the “city of our God” and receive His Son Jesus so that we may live with Him forever and ever.
Next time David says, “Mark you well her bulwarks, consider her palaces”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
