In Psalms chapter forty nine David said, “God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah”, and in chapter forty nine and verse sixteen of Psalms David said, “Be not you afraid when one is made rich” where we read,
Be not you afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
The verse begins, “Be not you afraid when one is made rich, ...” David began with the words, “Be not you afraid” or “do not exist in fear, terror or dread” “when one is made rich” which means “at the time and moment a person whether male or female becomes or exists as wealthy and enriched”. David instructed his readers and listeners not to be fearful or in dread at the time a person becomes wealthy or enriched.
The verse continues, “... when the glory of his house is increased;” David added the words, “when the glory” or “at the time and moment the honor, abundance, riches, splendor and dignity” “of his house” which means “pertaining to the wealthy person's home, dwelling place, abode and habitation” “is increased” or “becomes great, multiplied and enlarged”. David said his readers and listeners should not be fearful nor dread the time that the wealthy person's dwelling place becomes great and enlarged.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David addresses the mindset and feelings of his readers and listeners when they discover that a person has become wealthy, rich or honored. Rather than being fearful or in dread at the increase of the riches and honor of a wealthy person, they should turn their focus upon the eternal God. To the tribe of Asher Moses said, “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (See Deuteronomy 33:27), and anyone who realizes and believes that Jehovah God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. When people increase in riches, wealth and honor in this world, let us turn our attention toward the “Kingdom of God and His righteousness” (See Matthew 6:33), and He shall add to us everything we need according to His eternal riches in glory.
Next time David says, “when he dies he shall carry nothing away”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
