In Psalms chapter forty eight David said, “the kings were assembled, they passed by together”, and in chapter forty eight and verse five of Psalms David said, “the saw it, and so they marveled” where we read,
They saw it, and so they marveled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
The verse begins, “They saw it, and so they marveled;” David began with the words, “they saw it” or “they, the royal kings, beheld, observed and considered it, the city of Jerusalem”, “and so they marveled” which means “ and also and even so they, the royal rulers, were astounded, stunned, amazed and dumbfounded”. David said the royal rulers who gathered together observed Jerusalem and were stunned, dumbfounded and amazed at the sight of it.
The verse goes on to say, “they were troubled, and hasted away.” David continued with the words, “they were troubled” or “they, the royal rulers, existed as disturbed, alarmed, dismayed, terrified, anxious and nervous”, “and hasted away” which means “and hurried, were in fear, alarmed and trembled suddenly”. David said the “royal rulers” were anxious and nervous as they observed Jerusalem, and they ran away from it in fear and trembling.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through David how the “royal rulers” observed Jerusalem, and they were astounded at what they saw. They became so fearful and anxious that they ran away from the city. God desires to have everyone live with Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins which separated people from Him. When we submit to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him in Heaven, and we will never be anxious and flee away when we see God's city.
Next time David says, “fear took hold upon them there”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
