In Psalms chapter forty eight David said, “As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah”, and in chapter forty eight and verse nine of Psalms David said, “we have thought of your lovingkindness” where we read,
We have thought of your lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of your temple.
The verse begins, “We have thought of your lovingkindness, O God, ...” David began with the words, “we have thought” or “we, David and his fellow believers have resembled, been in likeness and considered” “of your lovingkindness” which means “pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness”, “O God” or “O Divine ruler, judge and Supreme God”. David said he and his believing companions considered the goodness, faithfulness and kindness of Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “... in the midst of your temple.” David continued with the words, “in the midst” or “within the middle or center part” “of your temple” which means “pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, heavenly nave, palace or sanctuary”. David said he and his fellow believers considered Jehovah God's “lovingkindness” within His “heavenly sanctuary”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David and his companions considered the “lovingkindness” or grace of Jehovah God within His “heavenly sanctuary”. God is filled with goodness, kindness and faithfulness, and He desires to share them with every person who will yield to His plan of salvation through His Son Jesus. We have sin in our lives which separate us from a relationship with God, and because of this, God sent His perfect Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we may enjoy being with Him forever. When we receive Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life with Him and help us to “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”. (See 2 Peter 3:18) For all eternity we shall give Him praise, honor and glory for His “lovingkindness” toward us that gives us access to be with Him forever.
Next time David says, “according to your name, O God, so is your praise unto the ends of the earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
