In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said to the groom, “Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages”, and in chapter seven and verse twelve of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said, “let us get up early to the vineyards” where we read,
Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give you my loves.
The verse reads, “Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, ...”Solomon began with the words, “let us get up early” or “allow and permit us, the bride and groom, to make an advance move in the morning” “to the vineyards” which means “toward the twining gardens of vine fields”; “let us see if the vine flourish” or “allow and permit us to observe, notice and discern whether the twining vine shoots forth, buds or sprouts”, “whether the tender grape appear” which means “perhaps the grape blossoms or buds shall be open, let loose and free”. Solomon shared how the bride invited the groom to join her promptly in going to the garden of “vines” in the morning so they could observe whether the “vines” were sprouting and the grape blossoms were open and free.
The verse continues, “... and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give you my loves. ” Solomon added the words, “and the pomegranates bud forth” or “and the pomegranate fruits bloom or blossom”: “there will I give you” which means “in that place and location shall I, the bride, bestow, grant and ascribe to you, the groom” “my loves” or “my, the bride's, love-tokens or caresses”. Solomon shared how the bride included how she and the groom would also notice whether the “pomegranate” fruits were blooming, and within that location, she would grant to him her loving caresses.
When we meditate upon words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the bride wanted to “get away” with the groom to a beautiful garden of grape “vines” and “pomegranate” trees. There they would observe whether each of them were in bloom, and the bride would give to the groom her loving caresses. God has a place prepared for us in Heaven, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to make an entry into His promised land as we put our faith and trust in Him. For all eternity we shall enjoy the loving “caresses” of God who made us and wants to be in fellowship with us forever.
Next time Solomon shares how the bride says, “the mandrakes give a smell” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
