In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said to the groom, “I would lead you, and bring you into my mother's house, who would instruct me: I would cause you to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate”, and in chapter eight and verse three of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said, “his left hand should be under my head” where we read,
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.
The verse reads, “His left hand should be under my head, ...” Solomon began with the words, “his left hand” or “his, the groom's, physical hand on his left side” “should be under my head” which means “was to be beneath my, the bride's, physical head, summit, crown and upper part of her body”. Solomon shared how the bride said the groom's physical left hand was to rest beneath her physical head.
The verse continues, “... and his right hand should embrace me.” Solomon added the words, “and his right hand” or “and his, the groom's, physical hand on his right side” “should embrace me” which means “was to clasp, clutch, grasp and fold around me, the bride”. Solomon shared how the bride said the groom's physical right hand was to grasp and fold around her.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the bride desired that the groom hold and fold his arms around her. In other words, she wanted him to give her an affectionate hug. God loves us, and He desires to be with us for all eternity. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to be within His eternal “embrace” forever and ever.
Next time Solomon shares how the bride says to the daughters of Jerusalem, “stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
