The Angels Answer - Zechariah 1:11

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will show you what these be. And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD has sent to walk to and fro through the earth”, and in chapter one and verse eleven of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how, “they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees” said where we read,

And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees,

and said, we have walked to and fro through the earth, and behold, all the earth sits still, and is at rest.

The verse reads, “And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, ... Zechariah began with the words, “and they answered the angel” or “and they, the man riding on the red horse with the speckled red and white horses following began to speak and responded to the spiritual envoy or messenger” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “that stood among the myrtle trees” or “ who remained, was present and continued in the midst and middle of the trees known as myrtles” with the following words. Zechariah shared how the man riding on the red horse with the speckled red and white horses began to speak to the spiritual messenger from Jehovah God.

The verse continues, ... and said, we have walked to and fro through the earth, and behold, all the earth sits still, and is at rest.. Zechariah added the words, “and said” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “we have walked to and fro”which means “we, the man riding on the red horse with the speckled red and white horses following, have ambled about and made our way departing and returning back and forth” “through the earth” or “over all the country, region, district and world”, “and behold” which means “and lo, look and consider”, “all the earth sits still” or “each, every and the whole country, region, district and world dwells, remains, abides and is inhabited at ease and rest”, “and is at rest” which means “and exists in a peaceful state”. Zechariah shared how the man riding on the red horse with the speckled red and white horses following said they had been making their way throughout the world, and the world was in a restful and peaceful state.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how the spiritual entities responded to the envoy from Jehovah God who was speaking to him. They told the angel how they had traversed the world and the world was at rest and peace. This was indeed an interesting evaluation of the state of the world, however, God knows exactly what is going on in the earth and within every individual in the world. Mankind is sinful, and because their sin separates them from a personal relationship with God, God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and receive Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to know He rules with and through His spiritual entities over all the world. (See Ephesians 6:12; Colossians 1:16, 2:15; Titus 3:1; 1 Peter 3:22)

Next time Zechariah shared how the angel asked, “how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
