I Would Lead You - Song of Songs 8:2

In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said to the groom, “O that you were as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! when I should find you without, I would kiss you; yes, I should not be despised”, and in chapter eight and verse two of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said to the groom, “I would lead you”where we read,

I would lead you, and bring you into my mother's house, who would instruct me:

I would cause you to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.

The verse reads, I would lead you, and bring you into my mother's house, who would instruct me: Solomon began with the words, “I would lead you” or “I, the bride, would cause, conduct and guide you, the groom”, “and bring you” which means “and carry and transport you, the groom” “into my mother's house” or “in my, the bride's, immediate female ancestor and progenitor', dwelling place, abode and habitation”, “who would instruct me” which means “that would teach and train me, the bride”. Solomon shared how the bride desired to guide the groom to her “mother's” dwelling place, and therein her mother would train and teach her.

The verse goes on to say, “I would cause you to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.” Solomon continued with the words, “I would cause you to drink” or “I, the bride, would give and provide drink to imbibe” “of spiced wine”which means “pertaining to fruit of the vine that is flavored and seasoned” “of the juice” or “belonging to the sweet wine or fresh juice” “of my pomegranate” which means “belonging to my pomegranate fruit”. Solomon shared how the bride said she would provide the groom with flavored and seasoned “wine” made with“pomegranate” juice.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the bride wanted to guide the groom to her “mother's” home where she would be taught by her mother, and she would provide him flavored “wine” made with “juice” from the “pomegranate”. The bride wanted her family to know the groom, and when he partook of the “wine”made from “pomegranate” juice, he would be connected with her to a more intimate degree. God wants us to be part of His family, the church, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a connection to His family that shall last for all eternity.

Next time Solomon shares how the bride declares, “his left hand should be under my head so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
