In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said to the bride, “Your neck is like the tower of David builded for an armory, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men”, and in chapter four and verse five of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said the bride's, “two breasts are like two young roes that are twins” where we read,
Your two breasts are like two young roes that are twins,
The verse begins, “Your two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, ...” Solomon began with the words, “your two breasts” or “your, the bride's, two paps, teats or bosoms” “are like two young roes” which means “exist similar and in likeness to two youthful roebucks or gazelles” “that are twins” or “which exist as matching couples or pairs”. Solomon shared how the groom continued to admire the bride as he spoke of her two bosoms existing similar to two youthful gazelles which were matching pairs.
The verse continues, “... which feed among the lilies.” Solomon added the words, “which feed” or “that eat, pasture and graze” “among the lilies” which means “in the midst or middle of the Shoshannim which were tubular or trumpet shaped flowers”. Solomon shared how the groom continued to describe the bride's bosom by referring to the way the two youthful gazelles were grazing in the midst of the “Shoshannim” or trumpet shaped flowers,
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the groom continued to speak to the bride in a poetic manner concerning her outward appearance. He favorably described her two bosoms to be similar to two fawns or gazelles which were grazing in the midst of “lily” flowers. The groom was ravished with his bride, and feature after feature within her was spoken of in a indulgent manner. God loves us in this way as well. He so loved us, “that He sent His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him, should not perish but have everlasting life”. (See John 3:16) Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us an appreciation for how enamored He is with us and desires that we be the same with Him.
Next time Solomon shares how the groom says, “I will get me to the mountain of myrrh” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
