How Fair and Pleasant - Song of Songs 7:6

In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said to the bride, “Your head upon you is like Carmel, and the hair of your head like purple; the king is held in the galleries”, and in chapter seven and verse six of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said, “how fair and how pleasant are you, O love” where we read,

How fair and how pleasant are you, O love, for delights!

The verse reads, How fair and how pleasant are you, ... Solomon began with the words, “how fair” or “O how beautiful” “and how pleasant are you” which means “and how sweet, delightful and lovely are you, the bride”. Solomon shared how the groom once again noted the beauty and delightfulness of the bride.

The verse continues, “... O love, for delights!” Solomon added the words, “O love” which means “O well-loved one”, “for delights” or “with all daintiness, luxury, pleasantness and comfort”. Solomon declared the his well-loved bride was “beautiful and sweet” for pleasantness and comfort.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the groom continued to speak favorably concerning the bride as he spoke of her beauty and loveliness. Her loving attributes would be beneficial to him for pleasantness and comfort, and when we consider that God desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we may be forgiven of our sins, grant us everlasting life and given a “beauty and loveliness” that will bless and delight Him for all eternity.

Next time Solomon shares how the groom says, “this your stature is like to a palm tree so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
