King Solomon's Chariot - Song of Songs 3:9

In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared about the wedding and how the bride asked, “Who is this that comes out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant? Behold his bed, which is Solomon's; threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel. They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man has his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night”, and in chapter three and verse nine of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said, “King Solomon made himself a chariot” where we read,

King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon.

The verse begins, King Solomon made himself a chariot ... Solomon began with the words, “King Solomon” or “the royal ruler and leader Solomon whose name means peace and was the son of David by Bathsheba and the third king of Israel” “made himself a chariot” which means “formed, fashioned and accomplished for his own self a palanquin, litter, conveyance or transport”. Solomon shared how the bride noticed that he, “King Solomon” formed and fashioned a transport or conveyance for his own self.

The verse goes on to say, ... of the wood of Lebanon. Solomon continued with the words, “of the wood” or “with the timber, stock, plank and stalks” “of Lebanon” which means “belonging to Lebanon whose name means whiteness and was a mountain range in Palestine”. Solomon shared how the bride knew the “chariot” was formed and fashioned from the timbers in “Lebanon”.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the bride noticed how the royal ruler “Solomon”fashioned a mode of transportation, a “chariot”, for himself, and the timbers of “Lebanon” were used to fabricate it. Solomon was regal and entered the city with great pomp and circumstance, and thus shall it be when Jesus returns to receive His bride, the church. God loves people, and He wants everyone to come to Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and guide us in our lives through His Holy Spirit as we look for His regal return.

Next time the Solomon shares more about the wedding day and how the bride says, “he made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
