Pillars of Silver and Gold - Song of Songs 3:10

In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared about the wedding and how the bride said, “King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon”, and in chapter three and verse ten of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said, “he made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold” where we read,

He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple,

the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem.

The verse begins, He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, ...Solomon began with the words, “he made the pillars thereof” or “he, Solomon, formed, fashioned and accomplished the columns of the transport, conveyance or chariot” “of silver” which means “with silver metal”, “the bottom thereof” or “the railing or support of the palanquin” “of gold” which means “with gold metal”, “the covering of it of purple” or “the riding seat or saddle of the transport with red-purple dye”. Solomon shared how the bride noticed the silver metal columns with supports of gold metal, and the upholstery, cushions and place to ride was fashioned with “purple” dye.

The verse continues, ... the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem. Solomon added the words, “in midst thereof” or “in the middle and center of the chariot” “being paved with love” which means “fit together with a design and pattern of passion and affection”, “for the daughters” or “by the female children and progeny” “of Jerusalem” which means “belonging to Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Solomon shared how the bride noticed the interior of the transport or “chariot” was decorated and fashioned with love by the “daughters” who were from “Jerusalem”.

When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the bride noticed the details that were formed and fashioned on the “chariot” that “Solomon” made for himself. Silver columns, a gold support canopy, upholstery made with “red-purple” dye and interior fashioned with “love” from the “daughters of Jerusalem” were all part of the fabrication of “Solomon's” mode of transport. The “king” arrived, and he was riding in a luxurious carriage. Angels said God's Son Jesus would return to the earth after ascending into the clouds, (See Acts 1:11) and everyone who surrenders their life to Him who died on the cross for our sins will be forgiven, granted everlasting life and learn to expect His royal arrival when He returns in all pomp and circumstance to receive His bride.

Next time the Solomon shares more about the wedding day and how the bride says, “behold king Solomon with the crown so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
