In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said to the bride, “your hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead. Your teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one bears twins, and there is not one barren among them”, and in chapter six and verse seven of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said, “a piece of a pomegranate are your temples” where we read,
As a piece of a pomegranate are your temples within your locks.
The verse begins, “As a piece of a pomegranate are your temples ...” Solomon began with the words, “a a piece” or “exist similar and in likeness to a cleavage, mill-stone, slice or part cut off” “of a pomegranate” which means “pertaining to a tree that bears pomegranate fruit” “are your temples” or “exist your, the bride's, cheeks or temples on the side of the head”. Solomon shared how the groom repeated the idea of the bride's “temples” being like a part cut off a “pomegranate” fruit. (See Song of Songs 4:3)
The verse continues, “... within your locks.” Solomon added the word, “within” or “inside” “your locks” which means your, the bride's, veil”. Solomon shared how the groom said the bride's “temples” were similar to pomegranate pieces inside the “veil” she wore. Solomon shared how the groom observed his bride's temples or cheeks inside her veil, and he likened them to pomegranate fruit. (See Song of Songs 4:3)
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the groom once again admired the “temples” or “cheeks” of the bride which were inside her “veil”. This is another intimate detail of how much He loved the bride, and God loves us intimately as well. He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, we shall be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and shown over and over again just how much God loves us and wants to be with us for all eternity.
Next time Solomon shares how the groom speaks about, “threescore queens, and fourscore concubines” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
