In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said “Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense”, and in chapter four and verse seven of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said to the bride, “you are all fair, my love” where we read,
You are all fair, my love; there is no spot in you.
The verse begins, “You are all fair, my love;” Solomon began with the words, “you are all fair” or “you, the bride, exist as wholly and totally comely, pleasant, goodly and beautiful”, “my love” which means “my, the groom's, companion and beloved bride”. Solomon shared how the groom told his well-loved bride she was wholly and totally beautiful.
The verse continues, “there is no spot in you.” Solomon added the words, “there is no spot” or “there exists not any blemish, physical defect or moral stain” “in you” which means “within you, the bride”. Solomon shared how the groom proclaimed that there existed not any physical defect or moral stain within the bride.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the groom considered his bride to be without any flaw. Both physically and morally, the bride was perfect in His eyes. Now we may consider this to be extreme, but we should consider the idea that Jesus' bride, the church, is to be made “without spot” as Paul the apostle wrote, “that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish”. (See Ephesians 5:27) God loves everyone, and He desires to have a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from every spot, wrinkle, blemish or flaw so that we may stand as “a glorious church” and bride before Him one day. (See 1 John 1:9)
Next time Solomon shares how the groom says, “come with me from Lebanon”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
