In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how, “the LORD of hosts” said, “I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem”, and in chapter one and verse seventeen of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the LORD said, “my cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad” where we read,
Cry yet, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
The verse reads, “Cry yet, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad;” Zechariah began with the words, “cry yet, saying” or “call out, proclaim, shout and utter a loud sound again, in continuance and still uttering, declaring and proclaiming”, “thus says the LORD of hosts” which means “the following utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”; “My cities” or “my, Jehovah God's, dwelling places, habitations, encampments and towns” “through prosperity” which means “by the means of that which is good, pleasant, agreeable, excellent and valuable” “shall yet be spread abroad” or “will still, again and in continuance exist as scattered, dispersed and overflowing”. Zechariah shared how he was instructed to shout aloud another time declaring that Jehovah God who rules over the angels and warriors proclaimed that His dwelling place would be scattered through the good, valuable and excellence of His great work.
The verse goes on to say, “and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.”. Zechariah continued with the words, “and the LORD” or “and Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall yet comfort Zion” which means “will again, in continuance and still be moved in pity and have compassion toward Zion whose name means parched place and is another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”, “and shall yet choose Jerusalem” or “and will again, still and in continuance elect, select and decide for Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God declared that He would once again have loving compassion upon “Zion”and decide for “Jerusalem”.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God cared for the people of Israel. He would cause them to be prosperous, and their “prosperity” would be scattered abroad. The people of Israel are known around the world for their great abilities in agriculture, business and other ventures, and God gave them these abilities. God chose the nation of Israel to be the nation through whom the Messiah Jesus would come, and when Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He made the way for people to be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and to become productive servants in the Kingdom of God. Let all who read these words understand God's love for Israel, and His provision through them has brought salvation and eternal prosperity to all the world.
Next time Zechariah says, “I saw, and behold four horns”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
