In Psalms chapter forty eight David said, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. God is known in her palaces for a refuge”, and in chapter forty eight and verse four of Psalms David said, “the kings were assembled” where we read,
For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
The verse begins, “For, lo, the kings were assembled, ...” David began with the words, “For, lo” or “because, since and on account, look, behold and consider”, “the kings were assembled” which means “the royal rulers were fixed, appointed, assigned and designated with one another”. David instructed his readers and listeners to behold and consider that the royal rulers were gathered together.
The verse continues, “... they passed by together.” David added the words, “they passed by” or “” “together” which means “they, the royal rulers, crossed over, marched and traversed with one another”. David said the royal kings who gathered together came against the city of Jerusalem.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David referred to the way “royal rulers” were gathered together and marched against the city of Jerusalem. Jehovah God was in Jerusalem, and He was their protection and provision. God loves people, and He desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus whom He sent to the world to die for the sins of all mankind. When we submit to Jesus, we will be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him, and even when people, “royal” people, surround and observe Him and His city, He will accompany us at all times.
Next time David says, “the saw it, and so they marveled”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
