Foot Dipped in the Blood of Enemies - Psalms 68:23

In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse twenty-three of Psalms David said God's, “foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies” where we read,

That your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs in the same.

The verse begins, That your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, ... David began with the words, “that your foot” or “so your, Jehovah God's, physical foot” “may be dipped” which means “might be smitten through, shattered and washed” “in the blood” or “within the bloodshed” “of your enemies” which means “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, hating foes and adversaries”. David said Jehovah God's “foot” would be washed in the bloodshed of His hating foes and adversaries.

The verse continues,... and the tongue of your dogs in the same. David added the words, “and the tongue of your dogs” or “and the wedge in the mouth used for speaking belonging to your, Jehovah God's, “dogs” “in the same” which means “within the bloodshed of Jehovah God's enemies” . David said the “tongues” of Jehovah God's “dogs” would also have their share of the bloodshed of His enemies.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see through David how Jehovah God's victory over His hating foes and adversaries was to be so thorough that He would wash His foot in their bloodshed, and His “dogs” would lap up their blood as well. Destroying God's enemies is not His first choice. God desires to “save” people who are in opposition to Him, and He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and contend with His enemies in a complete and severely crushing way.

Next time David says, “they have seen your goings, O God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
