Wounding the Heads of His Enemies - Psalms 68:21

In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse twenty-one of Psalms David said God, “shall wound the head of his enemies” where we read,

But God shall wound the head of his enemies,

and the hairy scalp of such an one as goes on still in his trespasses.

The verse begins, But God shall wound the head of his enemies, ... David began with the words, “But God” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “shall wound the head” which means “will smite through, shatter, and severely crush, smash and violently plunge the top, summit, upper part, chief and front” “of his enemies” or “belonging to his, Jehovah God's, hating foes and adversaries”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God would severely crush and smash the upper part and front of His hating foes and adversaries.

The verse goes on to say,... and the hairy scalp of such an one as goes on still in his trespasses. David continued with the words, “and the hairy scalp” or “and the crown or top of the head which is filled with hair” “of such a one” which means “belonging to the person who departs, proceeds, moves and goes away” “as goes on still” or “and continues, traverses and causes to walk” “in his trespasses” which means “within his, Jehovah God's hating foes', guilt, offense, sin, guiltiness and fault”. David said Jehovah God would also violently crush the crown of the heads of people who continue to proceed in their sin and guilt.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through David how Jehovah God will contend with people who hate Him and continue in their sinful ways. God's plan for mankind is to redeem them from their sins, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. When we surrender our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from all sin, guilt and shame. However, when a person purposes to continue in their sinful ways, does not humble themselves before God, nor do they repent of their errors and wrongs, they remain in their “trespasses” and are as hating foes and adversaries to Him. Today is the day of salvation, and when we submit to Jesus, we align with Jehovah God, and He will be our defense against all His hating foes.

Next time David says, “the Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
