In Psalms chapter forty six David said, “Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he has made in the earth. He makes wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in sunder; he burns the chariot in the fire”, and in chapter forty six and verse ten of Psalms David said, “Be still, and know that I am God” where we read,
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The verse begins, “Be still, and know that I am God:” David began with the words, “Be still” or “sink, relax, let drop and withdraw”, “and know” which means “and perceive, understand, find out, see, discern, discriminate, distinguish and recognize” “that I am God” or “that I, Jehovah God, exist as the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David relayed the instruction of Jehovah God to “relax” and discern and discriminate that He is the Divine ruler and judge.
The verse continues, “I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” David added the words, “I will be exalted” or “I, Jehovah God, will rise up, be set on high and extolled” “among the heathen” which means “with the nation, people, non-Hebrews or Gentiles”, “I will be exalted” or “I, Jehovah God, shall rise up, be set on high and extolled” “in the earth” which means “within the land, country, territory, district, region and world.” David shared how Jehovah declared that He would be set on high among non-Hebrew people and within the entire world.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover through David Jehovah God's instruction for us when we face afflictions and difficulties. God wants us to “relax and withdraw” and recall that He is the Divine ruler and judge. Jehovah said He would be set on high among unbelievers and throughout the entire world, and He does this by sending His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for the sins of the world and resurrected from the dead three days later. Anyone who surrenders their life to Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and keep the company of Almighty God who will be “exalted among the heathen” and “exalted in the earth”. Anyone who refuses and rejects Jesus as the Messiah and Savior of the world shall see Jehovah God “exalted” and know what a terrible mistake they have made.
Next time David says, “The LORD of hosts is with us”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
