In Psalms chapter forty eight David said, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness”, and in chapter forty eight and verse two of Psalms David said, “Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion” where we read,
Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth,
is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
The verse begins, “Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, ...” David began with the words, “Beautiful for situation” or “fair, comely, goodly, pleasant and well exists the elevation and height”, “the joy of the whole earth” which means “the exultation, rejoicing, delight and mirth belonging to the total and entire country, territory, land, district, region and world”. David said the following was pleasant and comely the entire world in it's elevation, exultation and delight.
The verse continues, “... is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.” David added the words, “is mount Zion” or “exists the rising of the plain named Zion which means parched place and was another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”, “on the sides of the north” which means “upon the flanks, extreme parts and recesses pertaining to the northward direction”, “the city” or “the dwelling place, habitation and town” “of the great King” which means “belonging to the exceedingly mighty and strong Royal ruler”. David said the dwelling of Jehovah God which is “mount Zion” or “Jerusalem was “beautiful” to be exalted and the “joy of the whole earth”.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David not only recognized Jehovah God, but also Jerusalem where He resided. God indeed dwells in “Jerusalem”, not only on earth, but also within the “Holy Jerusalem” in Heaven which shall descend to the earth. (See Revelation 21:10-27) God desires to dwell among people, and He wants a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus to the earth to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we submit ourselves to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Let us join David in giving praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and recognizing the great Jerusalem that He has chosen to dwell within.
Next time David says, “God is known in her palaces”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
