In Psalms chapter forty six David said, “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”, and in chapter forty six and verse eight of Psalms David said, “Come, behold the works of the LORD” where we read,
Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he has made in the earth.
The verse begins, “Come, behold the works of the LORD,” David began with the word, “Come” or “proceed, walk and go forward” “behold the works” which means “lo, look and consider the performance, deeds and acts” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David invited his readers and listeners to consider the works and deeds performed by Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “what desolations he has made in the earth.” David added the words, “what desolations” or “what waste, horror and appall” “he has made” which means “he, Jehovah God, has produced, made ready, appointed and set in place” “in the earth” or “within the land, country, territory, district, region and world”. David referred to Jehovah God's mighty works and deeds of destruction and waste He produced in the world.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew the power of Jehovah God over all the earth. He could do as He desired, and no one could stop or impede Him. God desires to have a personal intimate relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we submit ourselves to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and invite us to “behold” His mighty works and deeds as well as His “destructive” acts upon the “earth”. In other words, God is in control, and He is worthy of our praise, honor and glory for all eternity.
Next time David says, “He makes wars to cease”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
