In Psalms chapter forty six David said, “The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted”, and in chapter forty six and verse seven of Psalms David said, “the LORD of hosts is with us” where we read,
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
The verse begins, “The LORD of hosts is with us;” David began with the words, “The LORD of hosts” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who goes forth with an army or mass of angels” “is with us” which means “is beside and alongside us, David and his fellow believers”. David said Jehovah God who commands the Heavenly army of angels is with him and his believing companions.
The verse goes on to say, “the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.” David continued with the words, “the God of Jacob” or “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God belonging to Jacob whose name means heel-holder or supplanter and was the son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham, and father of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel” “is our refuge” which means “exists as our, David and his fellow believers', high place, secure height, retreat and stronghold”. “Selah” or “exalt, lift up and pause to meditate upon it”. David proclaimed the Divine ruler and judge in whom “Jacob” trusted as his “God” existed as David and his fellow believers' retreat and stronghold, and he instructed all his readers and listeners to pause and think about these things.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David proclaimed Jehovah God who governs over the army of angels to be with him and his believing companions. He continued by repeating the idea that Jehovah God whom Jacob served was their secure height and stronghold as well. God was David's protector, and no one could defeat Him. God knew we would have times when we desired to simply run to Him as a “refuge”, and He made Himself available to be our stronghold when He sent His Son Jesus to the world to die for our sins that separated us from Him. God loves us, and when we submit to His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be our safe abd secure stronghold to whom we may run when afflictions and difficulties arise.
Next time David says, “Come, behold the works of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
