In Psalms chapter forty six David said, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”, and in chapter forty six and verse two of Psalms David said, “Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed” where we read,
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed,
and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
The verse begins, “Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, ...” David began with the words, “therefore will not we fear” or “then, wherefore and on this account we, David and his believing companions, shall in no way be afraid, in dread and terrified”, “though the earth” which means “even should the world” “be removed” or “changed, altered and disposed”. David said there was no need for he and his believing companions to be afraid even if the whole world were to be altered or disposed.
The verse continues, “... and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;” David added the words, “and though the mountains” or “and even should the risings above the plain or mountain ranges” “be carried” which means “totter, shake, slip and be dislodged” “into the midst of the sea” or “into the middle, heart or center of the large body of water”. David said he and his companions did not need to be afraid even if the mountain ranges tottered and slipped into the “sea”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David declared that he and his fellow believers had no need to be afraid even if the earth quaked and mountains were thrown into the “sea”. In other words, Jehovah God was their protection and provision regardless of their physical surroundings. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we yield ourselves to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, we have no need to be afraid because He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide and protect us regardless of our physical circumstances and situations.
Next time David continued his thought by saying, “Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
