All Your Garments - Psalms 45:8

In Psalms chapter forty five David said, “Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the scepter of your kingdom is a right scepter. You love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows”, and in chapter forty five and verse eight of Psalms David said, “All your garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia” where we read,

All your garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces,

whereby they have made you glad.

The verse begins, All your garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, ... David began with the words, “All your garments” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of your, the royal king's, apparel, clothing, raiment or robes” “smell of myrrh” which means “have the scent of myrrh which was an Arabian gum from the bark of a tree which was used in sacred oil and perfume”, “and aloes” or “and perfume from the aloe tree”, “and cassia” which means “and a spice which was a powdered bark like cinnamon” “out of the ivory palaces” or “from the source or origin belonging to the nave, sanctuary or temple constructed of lex talionis or the tine of a beast known as ivory”. David said every one of the royal king's clothing have the scent of fine spices known as “myrrh, aloes and cassia” which were gained from the temple made with ivory.

The verse continues, “... whereby they have made you glad.” David added the word, “whereby” or “within the stringed instruments” “they have made you glad” which means “they, the music of the stringed instruments have provided and produced to you, royal king, rejoicing, exultation and joy”. David said the garments and instruments for music and worship which came from Jehovah God has made the royal king to be filled with joy and exultation.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the garments of the royal king are not only admired by David, but also were an inspiration for musical worship to him. God's “royal king” is Jesus who came to the world to die for the sins of mankind so everyone would have an opportunity to receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” and to be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life. God loves people, and He clothes Himself and His Messiah Jesus in the best of clothing so that people will recognize Him for who He is and submit themselves to Him to be saved and rejoicing for all eternity.

Next time David says,Kings' daughters were among your honorable women, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
